Obituary of Donald Dean Andrews

Please share a memory of Donald to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Donald "Don" Dean Andrews passed away peacefully early morning on October 11, 2016. He was born September 24, 1930, the first of four children to Harold and Auril Andrews. Don grew up in Camas, WA and graduated from Camas High School. After a brief Navy tour between WWII and the Korean War, he returned to Camas where he met his wife to be, Jeanette Autry, and they were married in 1955. They made Vancouver, WA their home and raised a son and two daughters. Most of his working years were spent in the insurance industry where, with his wife by his side, they created a successful independent agency. It was a great partnership founded in a respect for hard work and service to the community. They retired in 1995. Don was an avid hunter and loved to fish. Always a generous host, he shared his love of fishing with anyone willing to venture out over the bar at Ilwaco and loved Buoy 10. Don was a longtime member of the Columbia River Yacht Club. He was a gifted storyteller and loved to recount his childhood days of growing up on a farm in Minnesota and of the family moving west during the war. Don is survived by his three children, Doug Andrews, Deborah Nease (Glenn), and Rachael Rodgers; nine grandchildren; one great-grandson; and two brothers, Alfred Andrews and Harold Andrews (Katharine). Don was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Jean. A memorial service will be held Sat., October 15 at 1 PM at Camas Zion Lutheran Church, 824 NE 4th Avenue, Camas, WA 98607.
