Linda C. Piet (née Cookson), age 64, passed after a brief illness. She entered heaven peacefully in her sleep on the morning of August 16th, 2024. Linda was born in Sanford, Maine to Raymond and Doris Cookson on February 29th, 1960. She graduated from Sanford High School in 1978 after which she moved to Saratoga, New York, and worked as an insurance sales representative. She married her husband, Marcel Piet on August 2nd, 1982, in New York.

Linda was a loving mother, devoted wife, and caring friend. She always helped those in need and loved a good bargain. Linda loved to cook, bake, and host gatherings for her family and friends. She cultivated that craft to own and operate her own restaurant, Village Pantry and Bakery in Springvale, Maine. She was also known for taking in any stray cats she could find, including one that she befriended outside a car dealership. Linda took joy in the small things in life, including spending time with family at the lake, watching funny cat videos, and a good shopping spree. Linda was immensely proud of her husband’s military career and followed him from base to base for 22 years, including New York, Texas, and Virginia. Her husband, Marcel Piet, retired from the United States Navy in 2000 and the couple settled briefly in Sanford, Maine with their two children. 14 years later a new adventure beckoned them in the Pacific Northwest. Linda loved the weather out west, especially the lack of snow. Linda passed peacefully listening to the calming sounds of the couple’s beautiful PNW home.

Linda was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Cookson, and father Raymond Cookson. She is survived by her husband, Marcel Piet, their two children Elise Piet and Aaron Piet, his wife Taylor Piet, and their two girls Ainsley Piet and Damaris Piet.
