In Loving Memory of Margene Lois Qualls

Margene Lois Qualls, age 91, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family in her Vancouver home on December 6, 2025. Born on March 16, 1934, in Estacada, Oregon, she was the beloved daughter of Frank and Ina Chevron.

Margene shared 72 cherished years of marriage with her childhood sweetheart, Dewey Dean Qualls, who survives her. Their enduring love was the foundation of a close-knit family. Margene was the devoted mother of four children: Julenne (with her husband Jerry Melton), Tim (with his wife Lisa Qualls), Wendy (with her husband William Smith), and Todd (with his wife Janena Qualls).

Margene delighted in her role as grandmother to eight grandchildren: Corilynn, Haley, Billy, Marty, Annabelle, Gracie, Emily, and Eric. She was also a proud great-grandmother to three: Rylie, Kaya, and Cedar.

A lifelong and world-class singer, Margene was actively involved in numerous choirs and musical groups throughout her life. Her passion for music touched the hearts of many and brought joy to those around her.

A small family service was held at the Vancouver United Methodist Church. In the last moments by her side, Dean lovingly expressed, “Take your beautiful voice and go sing with the angels.” Margene will be dearly missed by all who knew her.
