Lloyd William Gameson III Obituary
In Loving Memory of
The Most Reverend Bishop Lloyd William Gameson III
October 29, 1985 – May 14, 2026
Bishop Lloyd William Gameson III, lovingly known as William, passed away peacefully on May 14, 2026, at the age of 40. Though his time with us was far too short, his life was filled with faith, service, compassion, and a sincere desire to bring light into the lives of others.
Bishop William devoted much of his life to the pursuit of spiritual understanding and the service of God. He spent many years in Sedona, Arizona, deepening his faith and studying spirituality. During that time, he worked at The Center for the New Age and later served as Pastor of Saint Luke's Episcopal Church, where he faithfully led Sunday services and ministered to his congregation. He also conducted services at the Chapel in Tlaquepaque before relocating to Portland, Oregon, where he continued his calling through service as a chaplain and with the Coast Guard Auxiliary.
Throughout his ministry, Bishop William was known for his compassion toward all people, especially those who felt forgotten or overlooked. He possessed a rare ability to listen, encourage, and offer comfort without judgment. His faith was not simply something he preached—it was something he lived every day through acts of kindness, generosity, and genuine care for others.
Bishop William will be remembered for his quick wit, infectious sense of humor, and fierce determination to stand up for those who had been wronged. Though often candid and direct, his words were always rooted in honesty, wisdom, love and especially humor. He had a gift for making people feel valued and understood.
Beyond his ministry, Bishop William found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved cooking and baking for family and friends, sharing meals that brought people together. He became known for gifting See's Candies on birthdays and holidays, a small tradition that reflected his thoughtful and giving nature. Whether through a heartfelt conversation, a shared meal, or a simple act of kindness, he continually sought ways to brighten the lives of those around him.
Bishop William's legacy lives on in the countless lives he touched, the communities he served, and the family and friends who loved him deeply.
He is survived by his mother, Renee Long; his stepfather, Brian Long; his brother, Anthony; his sister-in-law, Kylie; and many extended family members and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
Though we grieve his passing, we find comfort in knowing that his spirit, faith, and love remain with us always.
Services for Bishop William will be @ Brown's Funeral Home in Camas, WA on July 25th, 2026, at 2 pm. We ask anyone attending to wear purple, as that was his favorite color.
