Leon Higginson Obituary

Leon August Higginson passed away on December 23, 2005 in Vancouver, Washington. Born on June 2, 1921 in El Segundo, California, Leon was 84 years old. A 60 year resident of Washougal, Leon worked as an electrician for B.P.A. and Crown Zellerbach. He served in the United States Navy where he was a Pearl Harbor Survivor, and served in the Naval Reserve for 21 years. He was a member of the Cape Horn American Legion Post #122, Schick-Ogle Post # 4278 of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars, the Life Pearl Harbor Survivors Association Chapter 3, the Good Sam Club, former member of the A.W.P.P.W. Local #5, and the NACO Camping Club. He was co-owner of B&B Automotive. Leon enjoyed camping with his family, picnicking, going to the beach, traveling, and his tomato gardening. He greatly enjoyed his grandchildren, helping people and being a handy man, visiting friends, and meeting people. Leon is survived by his three sons, Kerry Higginson of Camas, Blaine Higginson of Washougal, and Brian Higginson of Washougal, his daughter Midge Tate of Libby, Montana and five grandchildren. He also leaves behind four brothers, Hanlon Weber of Rialto, California, Lloyd Higginson of Cloverdale, California, Harry Higginson of Taft, California, and Frank Higginson of Calimesa, California, numerous nieces and nephews and special companion Ethel Bullock. Leon was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years Mildred Higginson (1999). There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Leon on January 3, 2006 at 11:00 am at Bethel Community Church in Washougal. Inurnment will take place at Washougal Memorial Cemetery in Washougal. Memorial donations in Leon's honor may be made to the American Cancer Society: 0330 SW Curry St, Portland, Oregon 97239 or to Bethel Community Church: 1438 B Street, Washougal, WA 98671. Brown's Funeral Home in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
