Ruth Marie Meaghers passed away on Wednesday, May 27, 2011 at The Quarry/Atrium Memory Care Unit in Vancouver. Born on August 12, 1920 in Waterloo, Iowa to Arle and Harriet (Hatchitt) Guyer; Ruth was 90 years old. A Clark County resident for the last two years, Ruth lived in Skamania County for forty years and in Salem, Oregon for twenty years. She was co-owner of Meagher's Chevrolet in Stevenson and also worked for the Skamania School District, and served as a city councilwoman for the city of Stevenson. Ruth attended The Baptist Church and was a member of the Red Hat Ladies and served as a Past Matron for the Order of Eastern Star in Stevenson. Always willing to volunteer, Ruth served as a Red Cross Coordinator, Girl Scout leader, helped the Teen Challenge of Salem, and was a member of the Sonshine Ladies of the Peoples Church in Salem. Other hobbies included bowling, and spending time with her family and friends. Ruth is survived by her son, Michael (Deb) Meaghers of Salem, Oregon, daughter Sue Bossman of Washougal, Washington; five grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and 9 great-great grandchildren There will be a celebration of Ruth's life on Saturday, June 18th at Emanuel Bible Church: 8512 Sunnyview Road NE; Salem, OR 97305. Private interment will be held at the Stevenson Cemetery in Stevenson, Washington. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
