George Rollie Paynter passed away on Sunday, June 5, 2011 at Vibra Specialty Hospital in Portland, Oregon. Born on October 27, 1934 in El Paso, Texas George was 76 years old. A Woodland resident for the last thirty-five years, George worked as a mechanic for Tri-Met before retiring. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy during the Korean War and a member of the Woodland Presbyterian Church. George enjoyed traveling, playing tennis and spending time with his friends and family. George is survived by his sons George Paynter of Seattle, and Jon (Deb) Paynter of Vancouver; daughter Linda (Greg) Durham of Aloha, Oregon; brother Paul (Bea) Paynter of Rochester, Washington; sister Coral Paynter of Amarillo, Texas; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren. There will be a celebration of George's life at a later date. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
