Obituary of James Hobbs

James "Jim" Lamont Hobbs, beloved husband, Father and Grandfather, passed away Saturday, December 2nd. Jim was born April 25, 1943 in Seattle, Washington and attended Highline High School in Burien, WA. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Washington and was an avid and ongoing Husky fan. He went on to Seattle University to earn his MBA with an emphasis in Industrial Relations. Jim trained at age 11 as an ice hockey player. He started his training in Canada and continued all the way through the University of Washington. He also played for the U.S. Amateur Hockey Association. Although hockey kept him busy, it was his love of exotic cars that was his true passion. Jim was happiest racing Corvettes for Autocross in the summer and playing ice hockey in the winter. Jim grew up "in the trade", working alongside his father, as a licensed, journeyman, residential and commercial electrician. He spent over thirty years as a Human Resources professional. He was the Director of Human Resources at Gage Industries at the time of his death. Jim is survived by his wife Lisa Hobbs, daughters, Kema Hobbs and Arianna Long, granddaughter, Teagan Morgan, sisters, Mary Chapman and Donna Sweeney, nephew, W. Chet Ross, nieces, Genny Reynolds and Sandra Gavac, cousin, Dian Zinda, aunt, Martha Safford, sister and brother in law Evelyn and Steve Brodersen, nephews, James, Jon and Nick Augustavo. There will be a celebration of life service for Jim on Friday, December 8th at 11:00 am at Mt. Scott Funeral Home in Portland. Vault interment will follow at the Camas Cemetery in Camas. Viewing will be held on Thursday, from 10-5:00 pm at Brown's Funeral Home in Camas. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
