Gilbert Charles Youngren passed away on Monday, August 27, 2007 in Vancouver, Washington. Born on June 24, 1933 in Selah, Washington, Gilbert was 74 years old. A 51 year resident of Washougal, Gilbert worked as a millwright for Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill and James River Paper Mill in Camas before his retirement. He was a Veteran of the United States Army from 1953-1955 serving at the Ft. Lewis base, and was a member of the Camas Assembly of God Church. Gilbert loved working on and collecting antique/classic cars, traveling and boating, playing the trumpet, fishing, dirt biking in the back woods with his son, and loving his family and his Lord. People who knew him will always remember him for his great sense of humor too. Gilbert is survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Grace at home, son Dennis Youngren of Skamania, daughter Glenda Huddleston of Washougal, sister Helen Schilperoort of Wapato, WA, grandchildren Heidi Youngren and Denny Youngren, five step-grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, and family friend Mrs. Frieda Stalnaker of Washougal. He was preceded in death by his great-grandson Devon Youngren-Brannom in 2003. There will be a Celebration of Life Service for Gilbert on Saturday, September 1st at 11:00 am at the Camas Assembly of God Church in Camas. Memorials in Gilbert's honor may be made to the American Diabetes Association: 557 Roy Street Lower Level, Seattle, WA 98109. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
