Obituary of Charles Woodruff

Charles Rufus "Woody" Woodruff peacefully passed away on Monday, March 7, 2011 at Wildwood Adult Family Home in Vancouver, Washington. Born on March 19, 1928 in Newberry County, South Carolina to Charles Edward and Myrlle (Farmer) Woodruff; Woody was 82 years old.
A Camas resident for the last twenty years, Woody was formerly of Larkspur, California. He was a Veteran of the United States Navy and was honorably discharged. He was a two term councilman for the City of Camas, and also served as a former guide at the Historical Fort Vancouver. Woody enjoyed listening to bluegrass music and opera, an avid reader, and an active historian who loved to learn about the rich history of the Camas-Washougal area.
Woody is survived by his loving wife of eight years Sabelita Woodruff at home; sons Charles A. Woodruff; Joseph Woodruff, and Drew Woodruff; brothers Eddie Woodruff and Rudy Woodruff; and one grandchild. He was preceded in death by his first wife Dorothy Woodruff in 2002.
There will be a celebration of Woody's life with full military honors on Saturday, March 19th at 11:00 am at Brown's Funeral Home: 410 NE Garfield St.; Camas, WA 98607. Private interment will be held at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, Oregon. Donations in Woody's memory may be made to the Camas-Washougal Historical Society. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements. .
