Earl Lawrence Engler peacefully passed away in Washougal on Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Born on March 2, 1926 in Gopher, South Dakota to George and Alice (Johnson) Engler; Earl was 86 years old. A Camas-Washougal resident for the last 60 years, Earl was a Veteran of the United States Navy honorably serving during World War II. After the war he started up Engler Refrigeration and then worked for Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill in Camas before retiring from James River Paper Mill in Camas. He married the love of his life Delores Braunagel in September of 1950. Earl was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Camas as well as a former member of the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, coaching little league, and being around his friends and family. Earl is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years Delores at home; sons Duane (Jody) Engler of Longview, Washington, Dean (Debi) Engler of Eustis, Florida, Derek (Melissa) Engler of Washougal; daughter DeeAnn (David) Ferguson of Washougal; sister Dorothy (Robert) Resner of Boring, Oregon; brother Arthur (Gloria) Engler of Milwaukie, Oregon; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers Floyd Engler, Albert Engler, and Elmer Engler, and sister Irene Lowrey. There will be a Funeral Mass for Earl on Thursday, June 14th at 11:00 am at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Camas. A recital of the Rosary will be held on Wednesday, June 13th at 6:00 pm at the church. Viewing will be held on Monday, June 11th and Tuesday, June 12th at Brown's Funeral Home: 410 NE Garfield St. Camas, WA 98607 from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. Vault interment with full military honors will follow the Funeral Mass at the Camas Cemetery. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
