I only remember Grandma sounding harsh at all one time. I realized later that she was only worried, and it was her startled haste to protect me from hurting myself with an open umbrella that made me jump. She explained herself gently after telling me, "No, Bonnie!" Every other time, it was, "How's my honey-girl!" and I'd come right over; she'd kiss me and wrap her soft arms around me. She made the best fried chicken, mashed potato and green bean dinners, and astounding potato panckakes, letting me help. I asked her for pennies, or she offered me stickers. She told me stories each time I asked, either about her life, or making one up, or reading a favorite book aloud. She let me sit on her lap probably long after I shouldn't have! I always left Grandma's house richer.
I miss you, Grandma. I want to introduce you to my new husband. He would love you tremendously. You would be so pleased for me, and he would see where I get my big smile. I miss you. I want to sit and ask you all sorts of questions. I love you. Can't wait to see you in heaven! I will hug you so long, Jesus will start wondering if I'm coming back to talk to him or not!
