Walter Edmund Hilt passed away on March 19, 2015. He was 92 years old.
Walter was born to his parents George and Evelyn Hilt on March 31, 1922 in North Bergen County, New Jersey. He joined the Army Air Force in 1942 and served with the 819th Bomb Squadron during WWII. Walter has been a resident of Camas for the past 6 years, and was previously from Albany, New York. He enjoyed photography, wood working, and in his younger years loved boxing and weight lifting.
Walter is survived by his son Bruce (wife Linda) Hilt of Delanson, New York; two daughters, Corinne (husband Ralph) Forney of Camas, and Janelle (husband Tom) Bencze of Rotterdam, New York; 11 grandchildren and 25 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife Jeanne Hilt, son Daniel Hilt and a grandson, Bruce Hilt Jr.
Military honors will take place on Thursday, March 26 at Willamette National Cemetery.
