Obituary of Virgle Ross Shirley

Virgle Ross “Buck” Shirley passed away on February 20, 2016. He was 89 years old. Buck was born on May 6, 1926 to his parents Minnie and Charles Shirley, in Garland, Arkansas. Buck served in the U.S. Navy during WWII. He retired from James River paper mill as a Fireman, and was a member of A.W.P.P.W Local #5, Bennet Barnet post #27 American Legion and V.F.W. post #4278. Buck has been a resident of Vancouver for the past 19 years, formerly of Washougal, and was a member of Lacamas Heights Baptist Church. Survivors include his loving wife of 65 years, Colleen, his sons Michael (Frances) Shirley and Roger (Cheryl) Shirley, his daughters Vickie (Vince) Real, Diane (Dave) Shortt, and Sandy Watts, 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son Robert, 2 brothers and 2 sisters. A celebration of Buck’s life will take place on Saturday, February 27, 2016 at Brown’s Funeral Home at 1:oo p.m., with a graveside service and military honors to follow at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery.
