Obituary of Eileen Marie Shalata
Please share a memory of Eileen to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Eileen Marie (Dougher) Shalata, 58, Vancouver, WA. (formally of Plains) passed away unexpectedly on April 24, 2018, leaving her family devastated beyond words. She was the daughter of Ann J. Dougher and the late Joseph G. Dougher. Wilkes-Barre and was a dedicated wife to Michael J. Shalata, with whom she shared 32 years.
Eileen was educated in the Wilkes-Barre school system and for many years ran her own cleaning business, which allowed her the flexibility to do what she truly loved most, take care of her family.
In addition to her father, she was preceded in death by her nephew, Joseph Gerard "Joey" Pugh, who we have no doubt greeted her with one of his warm, loving "bear hugs", and her beloved furry companions, Jake, Cali and Gage.
Eileen was a devoted mother and best friend to her daughter, Joleen M. Abicht, her son-in-law Everett R Abicht, and her son, Michael J. Shalata ll. She was an incredible grandmother to Regan Adele Abicht and Evelyn Claire "Evie" Abicht, both of whom she cherished dearly and described as her "sunshine in life", sisters, JoAnn (Jeff) Klinesmith, Kathy (Ralph) Capristo, Susan (William) Kennedy, Deborah (Scott) Hoffman, Maria (Tim) Coolbaugh, Mary Ellen (Ray) Myers, Coleen (Fran) Pugh, Ann (Jeff) Selwell, brother, Joseph (Jeanette) Dougher, as well as many wonderful nieces and nephews and last but not least, her dog, Belle.
Eileen will be remembered warmly by so many. She was a loving, fun-spirited person who always delivered her true self regardless of the audience and always put her family above all else. In order to honor her memory as she genuinely deserves, there will be a simultaneous, private memorial services held on each coast where her life will be celebrated by those who knew and loved her most. Dates, times and specific details will be determined at the discretion of the family. For those who would like to help us commemorate Eileen's memory we only ask that you enjoy each day to the fullest and love your family fiercely, for life is simply too short for anything else.
We love you mom! XO
