I am saddened indeed to hear that "Mr. Bernazzani" passed away. He taught my high school speech class in 1970/71 at Davis High School. What a fun teacher he was! With boundless patience and humor, he was one of the high school teachers that rated an "A+." I kind of impishly told him first day "Can we argue in this class? I like to argue." His class was fun! And he was smart, and the kind of teacher who does not have to ask for deference or respect. On the last day he observed--in the middle of an argument- "Pretty appropriate that we're ending our last day here in an argument with Harris."
Its been many years, but I still remember "Mr. Bernazanni." He was a great teacher and human being. Peace to his memory and his family.

Dear Renee and family,
I am so sorry to hear about Mike’s passing. As you know I worked as a Speech-Language Pathologist when Mike was the Special Education Director for Yakima School District. Mike was a born leader. He was indisputably the greatest director I ever had the pleasure to work with. Mike was a listener and he appreciated his employees.
He loved people and was a champion for students with special needs. He also had a great sense of humor as any of us will tell you when we put on our annual Christmas skit and he was the man of the year with his “Blue Swede Jacket”.
He was fun, humble and deeply respected.
I feel privileged that I knew Mike.
The world has lost one of its great spirits.
With love and light,
Coni Essinger

Dear Renee and family,
We have been saddened these past two weeks to learn of the death of your mother followed by the death of Mike.
We have both know Mike during his years in Yakima both through the Yakima School District, the ESD and through community projects and Rotary.
Mike was unique. You liked him the moment you met him. He was just there to be a friend, colleague, listener and doer. We were sorry when you left Yakima but are sadder still for his loss to you, your family and any of those who were priviliged to know him.
May you know our thoughts are with you at this time.

So sorry, Rene, to hear of Mike's passing. He and I served on the Washington State Arts Commission together and had many similar interests (besides our
Italian heritage). Best wishes to you and your family.

Mike Bernazzani was the most amazing man, boss, leader and visionary for public education. What he did to enhance and improve the quality and quantity of education in the Yakima Valley was remarkable. As his obituary stated his vision was far reaching and gave many the opportunity to instill programs that afforded students many advantages and opportunities they would not have otherwise had.
Mike always made time for you and made you think in that moment you were the most important person in his life. His compassion and caring was unremarkable and always reached many to have that same compassion and caring.
I was one who has had the privilege of working with him. I have a lifetime of memories as well as a heart fill with gratitude for all the time I got to spend with Mike.
Renee, Mark and Brooke, I am truly so sad for you loss, as well as all of ours. He was taken to soon, but his contribution to all of us will never be forgotten!
