Obituary of Betty Joyce Rischman

Betty Joyce (Edwards) Rischman peacefully passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at her daughters home, under hospice care, in Washougal at the age of 88. Betty was born on November 24, 1931 in Toledo, Ohio to Harry and Bonnie (Howe) Edwards.
Betty grew up with nine (9) siblings on Poole Street in East Toledo, Ohio. She went to Olney Elementary School, Oakdale Elementary, and graduated from Waite high school in 1949. Betty met Chester John "Bud" Rischman at a dance in Toledo, Ohio who was on leave from the Army. After two more furloughs, he asked her to marry him and she accepted. They married May 11, 1951 in Monroe, MI. Betty worked many different customer service jobs through the years to help support her family. She had a wonderful personality and helping spirit. She was a special friend to all who knew her. Betty was a dedicated wife and mother. She lovingly raise two children Michael John (1952-1977) and Melinda Sue (Dunn). Betty retired from Ralphs grocery store in CA in 1991. She retired with husband Bud in Apple Valley, CA at Silver Lakes golf course until they moved to Washougal, WA to be near their daughter and four grandchildren in 2002. Betty enjoyed all family gatherings, attended all her grandchildren's special events, and attended Bethel Community Church. Most of all, Betty will be remembered for the love she had for her family, her grandkids, and her Lord.
Betty is survived by her daughter Melinda (James) Dunn of Washougal; sister Naomi "Boots" Stoykoff of Point Place, Ohio, grandchildren (Blake, Morgan, McKenna, and Landon Dunn of Washougal) and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Bud, son Michael, her brothers (Ralph, Harry, "Ray", Wayne) and sisters (Dorotha "Dot" Kreger, Thelma "Jean" Burns, Wilma Wood, Beryl "June" Henry, Esther "Laverne" Bachor).
There will be no local services. A private graveside service will be held in Cypress, California where Betty will be laid to rest at Forest Lawn Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Bethel Community Church: 1438 B St., Washougal, WA 98671. Brown's Funeral Home in Camas, WA has been entrusted with arrangements.
