Please share a memory of Dana to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dana Louise (Stokstad) Ast, 76, passed onto Glory after dying unexpectedly, Tuesday, April 20, 2021, in Salem, OR, where she lived the past six years after moving from Vancouver, WA. Dana was born Nov. 4, 1944, in Salina, KS, to her parents, Walt and Ruth Stokstad. The family moved to Vancouver, after the war and grew by two other daughters. Dana attended Lincoln, Shumway, and Fort Vancouver High School. After she married Larry Ast they moved to Spokane, WA, where their daughter, Jennifer, was born. After a brief time in Kirkland, WA. they returned to Vancouver and later began their family business. Custom Auto/RV Interiors. Dana and Larry enjoyed custom autos and R.V's.
Dana was a petite, calm, woman of faith who excelled at creating beauty everywhere around her. She was generous, stylish and adventurous. She loved shoes, shopping, birds, going to the beach and lady luck loved her. She made the best homemade soup and snickerdoodle cookies and she always made time to listen to you.
Throughout her working career she worked as a dental assistant and at Everett's Drug Store. She was a natural saleswoman and interior designer and was able to perfect her skills while working at Vancouver Furniture and Crown Home Furnishings in Camas. She instinctively redid any room she entered with an imaginary move of a picture, chair, or pillows.
Dana and Larry were charter members of Liberty Bible of the Nazarene and later transferred to Camas Church of the Nazarene where they continued to serve and worship until their move to Salem. After Larry died, Dana began to sew beautiful personalized quilts for all her grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. She completed over 25 quilts.
Dana is survived by her daughter, Jennifer (Bob) Osborne of Salem; granddaughter, Ave Osborne of Salem; grandson, Steven (Ramsey) Clark of Lemoore, CA; sisters, Suzanne Hendrickson of Vancouver, Allyn (Brian) Schultz of Peach Tree City, GA; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews and special daughter of choice, Wendy Newell. Dana was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Larry Ast; son, Michael Werkema.
