Obituary of Jeffrey John Walker

Jeffery John Walker passed away on Sunday, May 9th, 2021 due to an unfortunate accident resulting in a brain bleed. Born on October 27, 1960 in Gloversville, NY, he was the son of Gail and William Walker. He graduated from Burnt Hills-Ballston Lake High school in 1979. He was a great athlete and played baseball, basketball and soccer. He attended Geneseo State University to further his education where he pursed marketing and management. He continued to play soccer for Geneseo State, and developed a passion for golf which he enjoyed throughout his life. He was well respected and liked by all his peers and teammates. His professional career in the casino business began at The Sands in Atlantic City, NJ. He was well traveled in the casino business, with employment in Aurora, IL at Hollywood Casino, Mohegan Sun, CT and Mohegan Sun Pocono Downs, PA, until finally settling at Ilani, WA. He quickly built friendships and was very well liked by his community of Washington. He was a hardworking and dedicated father and family man. He cared deeply for his friends near and far. He enjoyed being around the ones he loved, golfing, and doing work outdoors. He took great pride in working on his lawn and flower gardens with his daughter and the neighborhood children who would stop by. When he moved to Washington, he found new happiness in exploring nature trails, being out on the water, and using his off time to spend at Cannon Beach or golfing with his friends. He was a loyal fan of the NY Yankees, Buffalo Bills, and Rangers and always enjoyed rooting them on with family and friends. Jeff was predeceased by his father William (Bill) Walker, and his sister Jan Michelle Parkes He is survived by his daughter Reilly, his mother Gail, his siblings Alan (Jane) Walker of Alpharetta, GA, Michael (Tricia) Walker of Geneseo, NY, Amy (Greg) Shelton of Baldwinsville, NY, his brother-in-law William Parkes of Clifton Park, NY, and many nephews and nieces. The family would like to thank the team at Peace Health Southwest for his initial care, and the amazing providers and organ donation team at Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital for being with him through his end of life care. His nurses treated him with great respect and kindness, and he had many friends and family spending time by his bedside. Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life for Jeff on Sunday at 5 pm at Penalties Sports Bar. The family has scheduled a luncheon on Sunday, June 28th, 2021 at 1:00 pm at the Ilani Casino Resort in Ridgefield, Washington, a Golf Tournament is scheduled at the Tri-Mountain Golf Course at 3 pm which all participants will be bused to, a Memorial Service is scheduled at Ilani Casino Resort in Ridgefield, Washington on June 28th, 2021 at 6 pm in the Ballroom, and funeral services will be held at a later date in his hometown of Burnt Hills, NY.
