Please share a memory of Thomas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas William Rawdin, retired Navy Chief Petty Officer in the United States Navy, 67, passed away on September 15, 2021 at his home in Vancouver, Washington. Tom was born on May 14, 1954 in Puerto Rico. He grew up in Sunnymead, CA. He spent his childhood ruling the neighborhood with his siblings. In high school he played football and track and was voted "Most Athletic" his senior year. Right out of high school he met his wife of 44 years, Deb. Tom was in the Navy for 26 year which took them on many adventures. After raising 3 kids he went on to become "Papa" to seven grandkids. He shared an incredibly special relationship with each and every one of them. He was very proud of his military career and enjoyed volunteering driving Vets to the clinic. His passion was his family most of all. He loved spending time with them and playing games. His family will miss dearly the Scrabble games and his knowledge of questionable two letter words. When he wasn't with his family, he would dropped anything and be anywhere for them. Tom has made many friends throughout the years but the ones he spent three days a week with at the "Dirty Shame" were some of his favorites. Tom was survived by his wife, Debra, and their three children - Carrie (the oldest by four minutes) and her children Harlo, Gunnar and Finn, Cassie and her husband Clint and their two kids Harper and Liam, and his son Nate and his wife Lisa and their two kids Olive and Vann. He was also survived by his wonderful siblings - Jack Jr. and his wife Jeannie, Beverly and her husband Dan, Barbara and her husband Jim, Robert and his wife Julia, and Bonnie and her husband Eldon. He was survived by many nieces and nephews whom he loved very much. He was preceded in death by his parents Jack and Ruth Rawdin. There will be a service with Military Honors at Willamette National Cemetery in Portland, OR on November 8, 2021 at 11 am. A celebration of life will be held at the family house in Vancouver, WA on November 7, 2021 from 1-5. This will be a time where friends and family can gather and share all of their stories about Tom and celebrate the life he led for 67 years. In lieu of flowers or gifts the family requests that donations be made in his honor to the charity of choice or the VFW who have been very helpful during this time of grief.
