Obituary of Douglas Paulsen
Please share a memory of Douglas to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Douglas Paulsen was born Nov, 20, 1940 in Austin, MN. He was the oldest of 7 children. Doug battled kidney cancer for 3 ½ years and fought a courageous fight.
He was married to Dorothy for 49 years. They started their life together in Minnesota, farming, and when their son Scott was born they ventured out to the Pacific Northwest in '71. Their daughter Heather came along in '74, and they settled in their Hazel Dell home for 34 years.
Doug worked for NW Natural Gas as a crew leader. He loved spending time at any sporting event and was coach for the Columbia Roofing softball team for 10 years. He was a teacher of the game and helped build a family for a lifetime.
Doug loved the outdoors and was a man's man! He could pick out the best piece of wood and have his stint saw buzzing in no time at all. He loved to fish.
Doug will be remembered for his love of the outdoors, being a fan of all sports, for his strength, kindness, generosity, and most of all, for his love and dedication to his family.
On August 29th 2013, Doug slipped out the back door, hopped into his pick-up truck and went and got a cup of coffee.
