Obituary of Sharleen Domeyer

Sharleen Gay Domeyer, 69, of Washougal, Washington, ended her battle with lung
cancer Saturday, February 8th, 2014.
She was born to the late Pete and Betty McCarthy, on December 26, 1944, in Yreka,
CA and later was raised by the remarried Betty and Robert Weinzinger. Sharleen
graduated from Redding High School in 1962 and continued her education at
Armstrong College in Berkeley, CA, where she received her Associates degree in
1964.
She returned to Yreka to work for the county and marry Mike L. Domeyer in 1964.
The family relocated to Tulelake, CA in 1976 to become the proprietors of the
Sportsmans Hotel. In 1992, Sharleen returned to Yreka to finish her career as a legal
secretary in the family support division of Siskiyou County, retiring in 2007. Shortly
after retirement, she moved to Washougal, WA to live with her son and his family.
She was passionate about helping others and had a great love for the outdoors. She
remained active in several outdoor activities including archery, hiking,
snowshoeing, kayaking, fishing and gardening. She was a member of the dragon
boat race team, the Pink Phoenix. Sharleen was also active with the Soroptimist, a
group working to improve the lives of women and girls. She chaired a committee to
help the less fortunate women in the local community.
Sharleen is survived by her two children and their spouses; Michael & Eryn
Domeyer of Washougal, WA and Michele & Dean Wilhelm of Kailua, HI; two
brothers, Bob Weinzinger and Butch McCarthy, and six beautiful grandchildren.

A waterfront service will be held at River Place Marina in Portland, OR on February
