Please share a memory of James to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
James Alan Nelson (Jim) (Maddog) passed away Monday May 12th 2014, after a morning ride on his quad in the desert behind his home in Florence, Arizona.
Jim was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Lois Nelson, and his two older brothers Bob Nelson and Bill Nelson.
He is survived by his loving wife and best friend of 28 years, Linda Leigh Nelson and his constant companion, their dog, Hooter; his sister Deann Nelson; five children Stacey Nelson, Chanel Sharp, Stacey Forney, Jason Webb, Derek Hansen; seven grandchildren; one great grandson and many nieces and nephews.
Jim was born to Bill and Lois Nelson on August 23rd, 1949, in Lake City, Iowa. He graduated from Camas High School in 1968. Jim was a Vietnam war veteran and was decorated with a Purple Heart.
Jim lived most of his life in the Camas, Vancouver area, retiring from the Camas paper mill. About 10 years ago he and Linda became "snowbirds" and lived in Florence Arizona for several months each year.
Jim, better known as Maddog by his friends, had a life long love affair with peanut butter which he had to have every day. He was an avid fan of Nascar racing and loved taking his dog Hooter for quad rides in the desert. He was a man of many words (not all printable) and lived his life his way by following his heart not by the "rules".
He touched the lives of many people and was loved by all.
We will miss you Maddog.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 31st at 3:00 pm at the Homestead Tavern 2561Belle Center Road, Washougal WA 98671. It will be a Pot Luck. BYOB
