Lieutenant-Colonel Joseph Luna Bogart passed away on Friday, May 16, 2008 in Vancouver. Born on July 7, 1920 in Greenville, South Carolina, Joseph was 87 years old. A Camas resident for the last four years, Joseph was formerly of Hillsboro, Oregon and Baker City, Oregon. He was a Veteran of WWII and the Korean War serving in the US Air Force before his retirement from the military. He was a member of Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Vancouver, and his hobbies included fishing, camping, and flying planes. Joseph is survived by his loving wife of 64 years Dorothy at home, sons Michael Bogart of Camas, and Daniel Bogart of Gresham, OR, four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his son Patrick in 1948. There will be a Funeral Mass for Joseph on Thursday, May 22nd at 11:00 am at Holy Redeemer Catholic Church in Vancouver. Viewing will be held from 9:30 to 10:30 at the church prior to the Funeral Mass. A graveside service with full military honors will be held on Wednesday, May 28th at 2:30 at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Baker City, Oregon. Memorials in Joseph's honor may be sent to USO World Headquarters Department WS PO Box 96860 Washington, DC 20090-6860. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
