Richard Edwin Engel passed away on Thursday, January 29, 2009 in Clackamas, Oregon. Born on November 15, 1940 in Portland, Oregon, Richard was 68 years old. A Camas resident since 1989, Richard was formerly of Vancouver and Portland. He was the owner of Richard Engel Poultry and a Commissioner for the Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas. He was also a member at Peace Lutheran Church in Vancouver, and a Veteran of the US Army Reserves. Richard enjoyed fixing and restoring things, John Deere tractors, and eating popcorn. Most of all, Richard loved his family and his Lord. Richard is survived by his loving wife of 42 years, Lois at home, daughter Jeanne Snow of La Center, Washington, sons Loren Engel of Port Angeles, Washington, and Thomas Engel of Beaverton, Oregon, sister Kathleen Woods of Minnesota, six grandchildren, and many friends across the country. There will be a celebration of Richard's life on Tuesday, February 3rd at 4:00 pm at Peace Lutheran Church: 13112 NE 28th St., Vancouver, WA 98682. Interment will be held at the Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas. In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's memory may be sent to Peace Lutheran Church or the Fern Prairie Cemetery: PO Box 969 Camas, WA 98607. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
