Leamon "Lee" Clarence Turner passed away on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 in Vancouver, from complications of pneumonia. He was born on April 6, 1921 in Odell, Texas. Lee worked for the Oregon State Game Commission as well as various other jobs in Bend, Albany, and Astoria, Oregon. He moved to the Fern Prairie area in 1980 with his wife Evalyn. During his life he enjoyed hunting, fishing, and watching baseball. He was a World War II buff and served in the Pacific during the war with the US Navy on the battleship USS Mississippi. He was a local member of the Veteran's of Foreign Wars Post #4278 of Camas. He attended St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Camas and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. Lee is survived by his children Carolyn (Mike) Flynn, Norma (Mike) Harrison, Steven Turner, Susan Belt, and Debora (Russell) Vail, twelve grandchildren, and various great-grandchildren, cousins, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Evalyn, and eight brothers and sisters. A Funeral Mass was held for Lee on Monday, April 13th at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church in Camas. Vault interment with military honors followed at the Sunnyside Memorial Cemetery in Washougal. Donations in Lee's memory may be sent to the Knights of Columbus. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
