Obituary of Marvin Cox

Please share a memory of Marvin to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Marvin Dale Cox, 57 of Camas, Washington, died on Friday, April 17, 2009 at home surrounded by family and friends. He was born January 22, 1952 in Toppenish, Washington. He was the son of the late George and Violet Cox, and was the youngest of eight siblings. He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Jimmy Cox. He is survived by his six siblings Bill Cox, Lee Cox, Pat (Cox) Jacobi, Sam Cox, Ray Cox, and Carol (Cox) Martindale, children Jason (Maggie) Whitmore, Lacey Cox, Sara Cox, and two grandchildren. Marvin served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. After his discharge he was employed by Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill in Camas and worked there for 30 years until his retirement from Georgia Pacific Paper Mill in 2007. Marvin enjoyed sitting around and enjoying a good meal followed by a homemade pie. He loved to entertain people with his sense of humor and could make people laugh until they cried. He was a humble, genuine man who loved people from all walks of life unconditionally. He invited people to stay in his home and was always willing to listen and offer his warmth and kindness at anytime. Marvin suffered from sickness in his last remaining years but stayed strong and wore a happy face. Many were unaware of his suffering, and the sickness robbed his body of many functions. Through it all, his heart remained strong and filled with love for his friends and family. Even in his last moments he strove to remind those he loved "Love you, always and foreverpinky swear." There will be a Celebration of Life Service with full military honors for Marvin on Saturday, April 25th at 11:00 am at Brown's Funeral Home in Camas. A reception will follow and interment will be held at the Camas Cemetery. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
