Garland Ruth Hansen Walling of Camas, devoted wife, mother, mother-in-law, Nana, great-Nana and friend to many passed away June 6, 2009. She was 99. Born March 9, 1910, in Tilden, Nebraska, to Bruno and Bessie Hansen, Garland graduated from Neligh High School in 1929. She met the love of her life, Walter Walling, while in high school. When the Hansen family moved to Camas in 1934, Walter followed, and the sweethearts were married June 26, 1935. The couple and their daughter, Rochelle, lived in Camas, where Garland loved to cook, sew, draw floor plans for numerous homes they built in the area, hunt with her husband, and spend time with her many friends. She was a 50-year member of the Lackamas Chapter #152 of the Order of the Eastern Star, serving as treasurer for 41 years. When you were lucky enough to meet Garland, you were a friend for life. Garland, after losing her beloved Walter in 1980, continued to be active in many things, especially OES, and was forever dedicated to her family. She is survived by her daughter, Rochelle Andrew; son-in-law, Jim Andrew, of Vancouver; grandsons, Mike and Jennifer Andrew and Pat and Melinda Andrew; and her great-grandchildren, James, Jordan, Tommy and Kristin Andrew, all of Lake Oswego, Oregon. A memorial service and celebration of Garland's life will be held on Friday, June 12th at 11:00 am at Brown's Funeral Home in Camas. Viewing will be held on Thursday from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Brown's Funeral Home in Camas. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Ray Hickey Hospice House or charity of your choice.
