Katherine Elizabeth Carter peacefully returned to her Lord on Wednesday, August 19, 2009 in Vancouver. Born on September 11, 1919 in Robinson, Illinois to Moses and Fannie (Hodge) Murphy, Katherine was 89 years old. A Camas resident since 1990, Katherine lived the last one and a half years in Vancouver. She was formerly of San Antonio, Texas and Robinson, Illinois. In Robinson she along with all of the Murphy family worked for the Heath Candy Company. She was a member of Day Spring Community Church in Vancouver, and enjoyed traveling, cooking, and most importantly spending time with her family and friends. Katherine is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 71 years Louie at home, daughters Carolyn Carter and Barbara (Tommy) Fraser, and four grandchildren, and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her sister Lucille Carter, and brothers Patrick Murphy, Robert Murphy, Donald Murphy, and Paul Murphy. There will be a Celebration of Katherine's life on Tuesday, August 25th at 1:00 pm at Brown's Funeral Home in Camas. Vault interment will be held at the Fern Prairie Cemetery in Camas. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
