James Matthew Finn peacefully passed away on Friday, October 30, 2009 at his home in Vancouver. Born on September 5, 1935 in Portland, Oregon to A.J. "Joe" and Ruth Finn, Jim was 74 years old. A lifetime Vancouver resident, James was an alumnus of Fort Vancouver High School. He later enlisted and honorably served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean War Era. After his time in the military he worked as a police officer for the Vancouver Police Department for twenty years before retiring. Jim was the youngest officer at that time to achieve Detective Sergeant. He was also known by many as the "Bugerville/Dairy Queen Cop" working Friday and Saturday nights keeping an eye on the cruisers. Jim lived his life to the fullest. Drag racing at P.I.R., riding his horse on the Chief Joseph Trail or snowmobiling with his son Bryan, he was always ready for some fun. He was an active member of the Slo-Poks Car Club and an avid fan of classic cars and hot rods. For several years he coached in the Fort Vancouver Little League. James is survived by his daughter Kristine "Kitten" Remington of Vancouver, sons Marc Finn of Hawaii, Michael (Brenda) Finn of Vancouver, and Bryan (Christy) Finn of Vancouver, sisters Mary Burch of Vancouver and Josephine Henderson of Vancouver, brother Daniel Finn of San Francisco, California, twelve grandchildren, and five great-grandchildren. Also surviving Jim is his former wife and mother of his children, Janeen Thompson-Felix of Svenson, Oregon. There will be celebration of Jim's life on November 14, 2009 at 2:00. Please contact Michael Finn (360) 281-5333 or Joe Finley (360) 892-9136 for additional information. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to the Alzheimer's Foundation.
