Obituary of Burke Poulsen

Burke D. Poulsen Sr. peacefully passed away on Thursday, November 19, 2009 in Vancouver. Born on July 22, 1926 in Goshen, Utah to Alfred and Elda Poulsen, Burke was 83 years old. A lifetime Washougal resident, Burke graduated from Washougal High School in 1944. He then enlisted and honorably served in the United States Army during World War II. After the war, Burke worked as head custodian for the Washougal Public Schools. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Parkers Landing Ward in Washougal. Burke enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and taking road trips. Most of all, Burke loved spending time with his family and friends. Burke is survived by his sons Burke D. (Connie) Poulsen Jr. of Washougal, Brayn Poulsen of Vancouver, daughters Julie Poulsen of Camas, Bonnie Turnbow of Washougal, Kim (Tim) Martin of Washougal, Sue Poulsen of Las Vegas, Nevada, eight grandchildren, and twenty-four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife Barbara Poulsen, brother Alfred Poulsen Jr., and Sister Starla Gutu. There will be a celebration of Burke's life on Wednesday, November 25th at 11:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints Parkers Landing Ward: 3920 Q Street, Washougal, WA 98671. Interment with full military honors will follow at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery. Browns' Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
