Joseph James Yancy Jr. peacefully passed away on Friday, November 20, 2009 at his home in Camas. Born on February 17, 1951 in Los Angeles, California to Joseph Yancy Sr. and Valencia Walker, Joseph was 58 years old. A Clark County resident since 1984, Joseph was formerly of Pasadena, California. Joseph worked as a drug counselor for numerous detox centers. He was a member of the Jehovah's Witnesses Kingdom Hall of Camas, and a Veteran of the United States Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era. He enjoyed fishing, cooking, watching movies, and listening to music. Joseph is survived by his wife Sharon Yancy of Vancouver, sons Joseph Yancy III of Vancouver, and Daron Ulrich of Vancouver, daughters Safya Yancy of Seattle, Washington and Tiffani Burleson of Gladstone, Oregon, step-father Isaac J. Walker Jr. of California, brother Isaac J. Walker III of California, sister Shéshé Yancy of California, and four grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his mother Valencia Walker and sister Alicia Brown. There will be a private celebration of Joseph's life. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
