Obituary of Merle Simmons

Merle Adrian Simmons, 69, of Washougal, WA died May 9, 2010 in Vancouver, WA. He was born in Barnett Township, MN on March 19, 1941 to Marion and Anna Simmons. In 1959, he graduated from Greenbush High School.
Merle married Karen Qualey in 1961. They moved to Washougal in 1965 after his service at the U.S. Naval Air Station in Point Mugu, CA. Merle found work at Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill in Camas, WA where he retired after 36 years. Merle and Karen had three children: Steven, Michael and Kelly. Merle was preceded in death by Karen in 1985. In 1986, Merle married Kaylynn Kaml and they raised Vernon and Nettie. Merle was preceded in death by Kaylynn in 2006.
He is survived by his brothers Lyle Simmons of Grafton, ND and Don Simmons of Grafton, ND; sister Joyce Roeser of Minneapolis, MN; sons Steven (Machelle) Simmons of Idaho Falls, ID, Michael (Michele) Simmons of Vancouver, WA, and Vernon (Alice) Kaml of Woodland, WA; daughters Kelly (Jerry) Satterfield of Vancouver, WA, and Nettie (Mark) Weaver of Washougal, WA; 12 "wonderful grandchildren" and many other family members.
A memorial service will be held on Friday, May 21st at 1:00 p.m. at Brown's Funeral Home, 410 NE Garfield Street, Camas, WA 98607. A private family burial will follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorial gifts can be made to the American Heart Association or American Diabetes Association. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
