Clyde Willis Ashby peacefully passed away on Saturday, June 12, 2010 at his home in Camas. Born on September 22, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan to Clyde and Evelyn Ashby, Clyde was 76 years old. A Camas resident for forty-four years, Clyde was formerly from Vancouver and Michigan. He was a Veteran of the United States Army and Air Force during the Korean War Era. After his time in the military, Clyde went to work for Crown Zellerbach Paper Mill in Camas as an electrician before retiring from James River Paper Mill in Camas. Along with being a member of the A.W.P.P.W. Local #5 in Camas, Clyde was also a member of the National Rifleman's Association and the Happy Hoppers Square Dance Club. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, and gardening. Clyde is survived by his loving wife of 55 years Bessie at home; son Roy (Joyce) Ashby of Ocean Park, Washington, daughter Cathy "Kay" Sedlak of Milwaukie, Oregon; brother-in-law Chuck Allen of Camp Sherman, Oregon; sister-in-law Carolyn Allen of Camp Sherman, Oregon; brother Donald Ashby of Dayton, Ohio; four grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. There will be a Celebration of Clyde's life on Sunday, June 27th from 2:00 pm to 4:00 pm at Clyde and Bessie's house: 603 NE 257th Avenue; Camas, WA 98607. Memorials in Clyde's honor may be sent to the American Heart Association: 1200 NW Naito Parkway Suite 220; Portland, OR 97209. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
