Obituary of Marlys Schneider

Marlys Christine Schneider passed away on Sunday, July 25, 2010 at her home in Washougal, WA. She was 81 years old. Born on July 19, 1929 in Hannaford, North Dakota, she was the oldest of three children to George and Alida Helmer. Marlys came to Washington in 1947 where she met and married her sweetheart Delos Schneider; they were married for sixty years. She worked at Jantzen as a seamstress and alongside her husband remodeling homes. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in the Stevenson Ward and Mt. Norway Ward, where she was a devoted member, teacher, and missionary. Marlys loved being a Grandmother, and was known to her grandchildren as "Gram." She enjoyed quilting, sewing, storytelling, and going to the beach; a place she truly loved. Marlys is survived by her daughters Marie Croll of Washougal, Sharon Dowden of Seattle, and Lynn Packard of Mulino, Oregon; sister Janice Herbrauson of McLeod, North Dakota; brother Jim Helmer of Hannaford, North Dakota; nineteen grandchildren, forty-five great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her daughter Verlene Cardon in 2007 and her husband Delos Schneider in 2009. There will be a funeral for Marlys on Friday, July 30, 2010 at 10:00 am at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Mt. Norway Ward: 3920 Q St.; Washougal, WA 98671. Viewing will be held at 9:00 am at the church. Vault interment will follow at the Belle Center Cemetery in Washougal. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
