Obituary of James Martell

James "Jim" Lewis Martell peacefully passed away on Thursday, July 29, 2010 in Clackamas, Oregon. Born on September 15, 1926 in Camas, Washington, to Alex and Gladys Martell, James was 83 years old. A lifetime Washougal resident, Jim was a Veteran of the United States Army during World War II. He later went on to work as a Clark County Road Supervisor until his retirement. Jim was a member of the Camas Moose Lodge L.O.O.M. #1042 and the Elks Lodge of Vancouver. An avid football fan, Jim always enjoyed watching Washougal High School beat Camas High School in sports. He also was a fan of classic cars, Fords, boxing, camping, traveling to the beach with his wife Carol, and telling stories. Most importantly, Jim enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. Jim is survived by his sons James "Jim" (Sharon) Martell of Washougal, and John (Karen) Martell of North Bonneville; daughter-in-law Sharon Martell of Camas; special friend Jean Price; seven grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 44 years Carol Martell in 1993, and his son Rick Martell in 1993. There will be a Graveside Service with full Military Honors for Jim on Wednesday, August 4th at 11:00 am at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery in Washougal. A reception will follow. In lieu of flowers, memorials in Jim's memory can be sent to the Southwest Washington Humane Society. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
