John Rex "Johnny" Garver died Dec. 26, 2010, in Everett, Wash. He was 77. He was born in Portland, Ore., to Bereneith and Robert W. Garver Sr., and was a lifelong Washougal resident. Prior to retiring, he was the owner/operator of Garver Trucking. He served in the Navy, and was a member of the Teamsters, Camas Moose Lodge, National Rifle Association, Washougal Bunch 4x4 Club and the Mount Adams Snowmobile Club. He also volunteered for Silver Star Search and Rescue, and enjoyed racing his black Ford truck at the Woodburn, Ore., race track. His constant companion was his dog, Tuffy. He is survived by his wife of 16 years, Bridget; children, Sheri Garver of Camas and John William (Judy) Garver of Portland; stepchildren, Darlene Trujillo of Kingman, Ariz., Angela (Jeff) Haga of Bremerton, Wash., and John (Leanne) LaJoie of Marysville, Wash.; brother, Robert William (Kaye) Garver Jr. of Joseph, Ore.; cousins, Dick (Ellen) Garver of Walla Walla, Wash., and Sheri (Mike) Flood of Carson; niece, Julie Garver in Vancouver; nephews, Rex Garver in San Diego and Jeff (Debbie) Garver, in Corvallis, Ore.; and numerous grandchildren. A memorial service will be held Friday, at 12:30 p.m., at Washougal United Methodist Church, 4020 "M" St., in Washougal. A graveside service will then be held at 1:30 p.m., at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery, 3329 "Q" St., followed by a reception at Silver Star Search and Rescue, 1220 "A" St., in Washougal. Memorial donations can be made to the West Columbia Gorge Humane Society in Washougal or Silver Star Search and Rescue. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with local arrangements.
