I m watching reruns of Johnny. When my daughter was 2, we would get our snacks and tune into the Tonight Show She loved that show, and we both still do she’s over 50 now, and I see that smile when the show starts. He still is the gold standard of late nite shows. Miss you Johnny. You made life happier.

I used to beg my Mom to let me stay up late in grade school to hear Johnny's monologue and then steal his material to repeat at school the next day. My teachers and friends thought I was very funny as they were unaware of my topical humor source.
In my high school years my dear Mom contracted cancer and would fracture a rib by simply sneezing. She was in so much pain that just breathing hurt. I remember Mom confined to her reclining chair and the pain meds could not ease her suffering.
Johnny's theme would come on tv at 11:30 p.m. and she would perk up to watch The Tonight Show. I will never forget Mom laughing at Johnny's back and forth bantering with Rodney Dangerfield. Johnny's humor would temporarily ease her pain and suffering when her meds no longer did the job.
I travelled to L.A. in the late 80's hoping to see my idol but a writer's strike put The Tonight Show on hiatus. I took a tour of NBC's Burbank studios and walked around the studio set and stood next to Johnny's mark on the floor where he delivered the thousands of monologues I grew up with and were a magical tonic during my Mom's final days.
I cried when I heard the breaking news on CNN about Johnny's passing. He was truly the King of Late Night t.v. and there will never be another with his comic genius and magic.
God Bless you Johnny Carson and may you rest in peace. You are very truly missed.
