Obituary of Forrest Hibbard

Forrest Dale Hibbard was born on August 5, 1927 in Colville, Washington, the son of Gerald and Marjorie (Pelmulder) Hibbard. When he was about one year old his parents went to India as missionaries and he spent his first four years of life there. After their return, they lived in Washington State for a time before going to Los Angeles. He attended Portland Union Academy, graduating in 1946. He was drafted into the Army soon after graduation and served as a medical technician in Occupied Japan. After his return to Portland he married Donie Bantz. Their only child was Gary. Forrest was a sales representative for McNeil Laboratories and Johnson & Johnson, and his job required several moves. They lived in Portland, Eugene, California, and the Seattle area. His wife, Donie, died while they lived in Edmonds, and son, Gary died in Portland in 1997. Forrest was an accomplished woodworker and gardener. He loved to travel, read, and find information on the internet. He completed two years of college and was always seeking knowledge " especially in the medical field. He met his wife, Martha (Sanchez) Cannady, while she was caring for his stepmother and this friendship turned into love and marriage. Martha has been a loyal and very caring wife for him, especially in his final days. Besides his wife, Martha, he leaves a sister; Ferne Hellie, Salem, OR; 2 nephews, Mike Hall, Clackamas; and Chip Hellie, Salem: 3 nieces, Linda Gac, Ventura, CA, Tanna Cox, Lake Oswego and Karyn Pfau, Salem. He also leaves several cousins and special companion, Doolie. Memorial services will be held at the Riverside SDA Church, 463 N. Shepherd Rd. in Washougal on Sunday February 26 at l:00p.m. Contributions may be made to charity of your choice, or to the church building fund. Brown's Funeral Home in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
