Marie Slaughter passed away on June 26, 2006 in Vancouver. Born on September 14, 1920 in Dickenson, North Dakota, Marie was 85 years old. A 28 year Washougal resident, Marie worked as a medical claims officer for Blue Cross of Oregon. She attended Gateway Community Church and belonged to the American Legion and Emblem Club. She enjoyed traveling, painting, and crafts in general. Marie is survived by two sisters Alice Clark of Dickenson, North Dakota, and Jean Lande of Pryor, Montana, and brother Robert Lillibridge of Fairfield, North Dakota. She is also survived by her adopted family Gene and Cheryl Downer, grandchildren Wayne and Danelle Downer, Wendi and Toby Davis, great grandchildren, Justin and Jason Downer, Chelsey, Krystal, and Alison Davis, numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Delbert Lavern Slaughter (1987). A Memorial Service will be held on Wednesday, July 5th at 3:30 at Gateway Community Church in Washougal. Vault interment will take place at Park Hill Cemetery in Vancouver. Donations in Marie's memory may be made to the Building Fund for Gateway Community Church: 1235 E St., Washougal, WA 98671. Brown's Funeral Home in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
