Ruth Josephine Wilbanks returned peacefully to her Heavenly Father on Monday morning, September 25, 2006 in the company of her loving family. She was born Ruth Josephine Evans in Maebank, Texas on March 10, 1917. She grew up in Arkansas, where she met and married John Wilbanks, and welcomed four of their five children. The family moved to Camas in February 1946, and relocated to Washougal one year later, where their fifth child was born. Ruth worked at Pendleton Woolen Mills until her retirement in 1970. In 1971, the couple moved to Vancouver, where they were active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Throughout her later life Ruth enjoyed genealogy and regularly welcomed friends and family with the good food and lively conversation typical of her Southern Roots. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband John, her son Boyce, and her grandsons Kevin Sinclair, Russel Wilbanks, and Boyce Lehman. She is survived by her son Wesley Wilbanks, her daughters Wilma Lehman, Glenda Sinclair, and Inez Shurtz, as well as 15 Grandchildren and 23 Great-Grandchildren who knew her affectionately as "Granny." A funeral service will be held on Friday, September 29th at 10:00 am at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints Columbia Heights Ward: 10509 SE 5th Vancouver, WA. Vault interment will be held at the Washougal Memorial Cemetery in Washougal. Brown's Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
