Please share a memory of Felix to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Felix Micklous Mueller returned to his Lord on Thursday, March 31, 2011 in Vancouver, Washington. Born on September 19, 1914 in Conrad, Montana to John and Anna (Kirch) Mueller; Felix was 96 years old. A lifetime Camas resident, Felix graduated from Camas High School in 1932. He enlisted in the United States Navy during World War II. During the War Felix was a survivor of the Attack on Pearl Harbor and was on board the ship that shot down the first Japanese fighter plane of the War. After the initial attack Felix served as a radio controller for the remainder of that fateful day. Throughout his enlistment he was able to visit countries including Micronesia, Cuba, Surinam, Trinidad, Australia, the Fiji Islands, Togo, and Tonga Tabu. During his Navy service Felix married the love of his life Myra Eleanor Genest on September 19, 1943. After his Honorable Discharge from the Navy in 1955 he returned to Camas with his wife and two children and then went to work for the Washougal Woolen Mills and then the Washougal School District as a custodian. He was a member of St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church and a 4th Degree Knights of Columbus where he served as Treasurer for 15 years. Felix was also a member and Past-President of the City of Roses Chapter of the Fleet Reserve Association. He enjoyed gardening, playing cards, woodworking, collecting stamps, bowling, eating at Heller's Restaurant, and volunteering. His "model of perpetual motion" allowed him to be an active volunteer in the community into his early 90's. Most importantly Felix will be remembered for the love he had for his family, friends, and his Lord. Felix is survived by his sons Michael Mueller of Camas, and James "Jim" (Sandy) Mueller of Seattle, Washington; daughter Marie Mueller of Camas; and granddaughter Anna Mueller of Seattle. He was preceded in death by his wife Myra Mueller in 1987; brothers Nick Mueller, Frankie Mueller, Johnny Mueller, Albert Mueller, and Andrew Mueller; and sisters Elizabeth Meyer, Gertrude Meyer, Adelheit Daugherty, Katherine Warren, and Eleanore Hirsh. There will be a Rosary Vigil Service on Thursday, April 7th at 6:00 pm at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church: 324 NE Oak Street; Camas, WA 98607. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday, April 8th at 12:00 pm at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church. Vault interment with full Military Honors will follow the Funeral Mass at the Camas Cemetery. Viewing will be held on Thursday, April 7th from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm at Brown's Funeral Home in Camas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Felix's honor to be sent to the Felix Mueller High School Scholarship Fund through the Catholic Daughters of the Americas.
