I'm so sorry and shocked to hear about Jay's passing. We were roommates at Central and I have never forgot what a great person he was to be around. I haven't spoke to Jay since college, but thought of him many times and wondered how he was. It was an out of the blue Google search today that, unfortunately turned up the news of passing. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family. Sincerley, Rob Sorbo

I am sorry to hear of Jay's passing. I was Drew's pre-school bus driver, and got to see first hand what a wonderful father Jay was. My thought are with all of you at this sad time.

Dr. Youngman, Tyler and Drew, I just want to send you my heartfelt sadness for your loss. I am going to miss Jay coming in with the boys and sitting down at the lunch table all talking about the events of the day. It was always nice to see him here in the office when he came to visit you. His smile and laughter will surely be missed. Let any of us know if there is anything you need during this difficult time. Take care. Amy

No one has ever made me laugh as much as Jay did. Usually we were making fun of other people because we were so perfect. The poor girl with the tweety-bird head that we used to see walking across campus at Central. One of us would say "I tot I twa a putty tat" and we'd bust a gut laughing. She must have thought we were nuts. I'll always remember walking to Taco Time for our morning-after headache cure when we had money and scraping together enough change to dine on cheese bread and water at Frazzini's when we didn't have any money. I will miss him. +

I had the honor of spending Thanksgiving with Jay and his family in 2005. He, Lori, and the boys were wonderful hosts and made the holiday away from my own family a very thankful one. May Jay's legacy of a wonderful, dedicated, and loving father endure for years to come. I pray that Tyler and Drew always remember how much their father loved them. Lori, Tyler, Drew...thanks for sharing Jay with me if only for that one day. I am truly very sorry for your loss. Sincerely, Penny L. Moore

Wow! how schocked I was to read of Jays passing in the paper. I worked with Jay at Group Health here in the TriCities as his optometric assistant. He always had a good sense of humor and I know he loved his boys very much.. We kept in touch for a bit while he worked at Shopko and then I lost track.. My thoughts and prayers to Lori and the boys. Jay was a great person and a wonderful friend. He had an acute sense of humor and was a dear sweet man. He never had an unkind word for anyone. When he lived in the Tri-Cities we spent a lot of time together and shared many confidences. We spent many hours together playing golf and always had a great time. My world was a better place for having Jay in it. I think of him often.

Jay was the first person I met when I moved to the dorm at Pacific Univ. and then Kent, Jay, Craig and I were all suitemates for a while. Jay had me laughing within five minutes after I met him and then the laughs just never ended. It was always so easy to laugh and joke with Jay and thats how I will always remember him. One Sunday in the fall, Jay wanted to drive all the way to the coast to study on the picnic tables by the Tillamook Lighthouse -- because it was just too nice to stay indoors all day. Of course, we spent most of the time watching the ocean with very little studying. During our 4th year at Pacific, Jay, Leigh Sha and I were on clinical rotations together. I remember how happy I was to see that I was in the same group with Jay because I knew it meant that Leigh Sha and I would be laughing every day until we graduated. Im very sad at Jays passing but very happy that I knew him.

Lori, I'm so sorry to hear of Jay's passing. He will always be a special part of my school memories at Pacific. He was my neighbor, a classmate, and good friend. I have great memories of our ski trip to Whistler. Of about 8-10 people on one little floor, Jay got the bedroom because he was the loudest snorer!!!! I am happy to have had the chance to know him. Your family will be in my prayers. Carolyn

After driving for 5 days across the country to go to Central, I met Jay as I was unpacking. Not knowing anyone at all in the Northwest, I was nervous about meeting all new friends, but within a few minutes Jay had me almost in tears laughing about his journey to Central that day. He always thought I was nuts to have traveled across country for college and I responded he was nuts for wanting to stare into peoples eyes for a career. I last emailed with Jay several years ago and besides bragging on and on about his kids he admitted that years later he still could not believe he actually was able to trick his wife into marrying him. He counted himself very lucky to have been blessed with such a great family. In ones life you only meet a handful of people that you can truly say the person had a huge heart of gold. Jay was one of those people. His sense of humor was what most people saw first, but once you got to know him you quickly realized he put other peoples needs ahead of his. The world today is a better place because of Jay. My thoughts and prayers go out to Lori and his kids.
