It was my honor to know and work with Leonard for many years at Boeing, and in the IEEE Computer Society on international software and systems engineering standards. He was a mentor and a visionary.

My sincere condolences to Leonard's family. I was honored to have Leonard as a friend and always listened to his wise words. I met Leonard in 1990 and shared many standards activities with him for the next 10 years, both in IEEE and in international software standards. It was a period of many positive advances due in large part to the fact that he inspired many of us to do better.

I have known and worked with Leonard since mid 1990's on International ISO/IEC JTC1/SC7 and IEEE software standards and organized the software engineering standards workshops and Symposia in Denver, Montreal, Walnut Creek and Curitiba. He was just a special unique person to work with, very dedicated and focussed and his subsequent accomplishments like SWEBOK speak highly of him. I offer my sincere and deepest condolences to his family on their loss. John

Leonard helped me when I was first getting into the standards committee activity as a Motorola person from Israel. I grew up in Seattle and worked at Boeing one summer, so perhaps that was one of the reasons we bonded.
I don't remember the details, but I clearly remember learning from him that it was not only possible but necessary to be honest and straightforward in order to accomplish things in the standards area and in business in general. He was a beacon of light to me and to countless others, and we admired him for getting good things done, things that really helped the world.
May you all be comforted by the thought that Leonard helped so many, directly and indirectly by his dedicated and devoted work ethic.
Sincerely,
Paul Rogoway
