To my dear cousins Art, Steve, Paul, Bob, and Richard and your families, I'm glad I was able to get together with you last year with LeRoy in Camas and for the visits Joe and I had with him and Martha in Creswell where he told us about some of his fishing exploits. My sympathies are with you feeling the absence of your dad even though he was blessed enough to have a long and fulfilled life and a loving family. May he be there with you in that wind you feel blowing across the bay. Love from Karen

Dad,It has been my priviledge that you spend your last months with our family.I got to see my father in a new light.we got to take short walks together arm in arm.We were able to spend thanksgivings , Christmas, easters & birthdays together. Leroy got to spend time with his new extended family on the jones side (Jamies inlaws)He was loved by all. At his last birthday party in our home he said grace over the meal for 17 people. the last time I saw my dad was with Art. We were both standing in front of Dad and I asked "which one of us is better looking" and he said "you both look the same to me - no difference" Thanks dad for your sense of humor. He never complained and kept his witty sense of humor. We'll miss you Dad but I know we'll be rejoicing with you and mom again someday. say Hi to mom for me love, richard, Janiece, Kerri, Jamie & Darren

Oh Grampa, We were and still are so very blessed that we had you and Gramma in our lives! The two of you are an inspiration to me, to live life to the fullest, love like there's no tomorrow, and be happy and grateful for ALL God's blessings! Thank you for being you...your sense of humor, positive attitude, love of God, love of the music and the outdoors...Here's to you and gramma, together again forever in heaven. You will both go on living through all of us, in our hearts, in our stories, in our music, in our jokes, in our memories...Thank you for your wonderful, beautiful life...Love and miss you Julie

In behalf of myself, Erika, Francisco, and Jeremy, I send my deepest condolences on the passing of your Father to Arthur, Steve, Paul, Robert, and Richard and their wonderful families. One needs to look no further than these five men, all grown up now- but still bristling with that magical zest for all that makes us alive to see the spirit of Uncle Leroy. Remembering that wonderous love of life and family is the truest tribute to Leroy and Martha Boardman. As a too distant niece, I always got excited whenever we got to stop at the Boardman house. It wasn't fancy, but whatever love feels like in a home, it was there, big time. The flame remains in good hands with my cousins and the special women they married, and with their children. Today's service will no doubt get a little rowdy, but it will flow with love to spare, and I dearly wish I could be there. Evelyn, Ruth, Margaret, and Martha have each called their husbands home now- for better or worse. And our childhood passes with them. We can only see our anchors in the faces of each other now. Let us try to make that connection whenever we can- even as a yearly reunion, so we never forget who we are. Our parents would like that. Uncle Roy will be in my thoughts and prayers today, and always, as will you all. Love, Marianne

To all the Boardman brothers and your families, I send my deepest condolences and you are in my thoughts and prayers. It would be an honor to be able to be there and pay my respects..your father was a man who had a love of God, his family, and truly enjoyed people of all races. What a sense of humor! My earliest and best memory of him was helping him when he worked on his cars. He always made me feel welcome to your family and I will miss him. God be with you all!

Dad, I miss your jokes and sense of humor. I will never forget the one joke you told me that I remember the most: "Did you hear about the big explosion"; "No, what explosion"; The wind blew up the bay." Your sense of humor lives on with your sons and grandkids. Everytime, Bob tells his corny jokes, I will think of you and it will be great. I miss you a lot, but I know you are with Mom in a better place and will watch over us, until we meet again, I love you. Karen

Dad, I'm going to miss you terribly. It was such a comfort to know you were with us for 88 great years. What memories we are left with. The fishing outside the "Gate", Ray Gardner's in Half Moon Bay, Rockaway Beach, Slide Ranch, Duxbury Reef. The last time you went out with me trolling through the potatoe patch was priceless. I guess my fish will never be quite as big as I had claimed moving forward. We always had to bump up the size to keep up with your stories. You have given me a love for the ocean off SF that will stay with me forever. It is safe to say I think of you often and feel your energy whenever I'm out there. The same goes for Shasta, New Hope Landing, Lake Almanor and Big Basin. I still camp and I'm sure it's because of your influence. You are truly a man of integrity and I thank you for the integrity and spirituality both you and Mom instilled in me and in turn I have passed on to my children. Your legacy will live on. We all wish we had you a little longer to ourselves but you're with Mom and Jesus now and that must be the ultimate. I look forward to seeing you and Mom again someday in the great by and by.
