Obituary of Carl Floten

Carl Gustave Floten Jr. passed away on December 25, 2005 in Vancouver, Washington. Born on February 21, 1915, Carl was 90 years old.
Carl graduated from Oregon State University as an agronomist and began his career as an agriculture instructor at Pine Valley High School in Halfway, Oregon during World War II. He then continued his teaching of agriculture at The Dalles High School. He was a member of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in The Dalles, and enjoyed playing bridge, golf, riding horses, and loving his family and friends. He continued his career as Vice-President of Inland Navigation Co. In that capacity Carl established the first transport of wheat by barge via river. He also worked as a Futures Broker for Geldermann and Company Inc.
Carl is survived by his daughter Carole E. Weidner of Washougal, son William F. Floten of Seattle, Washington, nephew Harkness Storm Floten M.D. of Portland, Oregon, two grandchildren Robbi D. Page of New York City and Clinton E. Page of Vancouver, and two great-grandchildren Bryson and Rachel Page of Vancouver. He was preceded in death by his wife of 59 years Florence M. Floten (1998).
There will be no public service. Memorials in Carl's honor may be made to the Ray Hickey Hospice House: P.O. Box 1600, Vancouver, WA 98668. Brown's Funeral Home in Camas has been entrusted with arrangements.
